|

Hey there, my fellow CED fans! My boyfriend and I are the new owners of a 1981 RCA SelectaVision, serial number SFT100W. We found it at a yard sale, along with about 37 movies, and it sounds like the player got a lot of use from the family that owned it. Hopefully it isn't too worn out! The problem we have been having is color shifting in the picture. When we put a CED in the player, the picture shifts from being fine, to black and white pixelated-looking dots, to rainbow colors, and then back to normal again. All of the discs we have put in do that. Basically color-shifting. Some discs have garbled waves on screen for a moment, but we were warned that some of the discs had heavy use, so maybe that has something to do with it. If anyone out there knows what may be wrong with our CED player and how to fix it, please let us know! Any input is greatly appreciated. |

This is no expert answer, but it sounds to me that you need a new stylus. Go to cedmagic.com and you can find out where to get one.
hope this helps |

Color shifting is caused by unstable platter rotation. The belt that rotates the platter is slipping and this is what causes the picture to shift from color to black and white. Go to this web-site below and order a new platter drive belt, it is a very inexpensive fix.
