Everyone is familiar with "Making Michael Jackson's Thriller" but he also performed a song with Roberta Flack on "Free to Be ... You and Me" which was originally a 1974 TV special.
And here's a picture (circa 1984) of Michael Jackson dancing with Emmanuel Lewis, captured from a television newscast:
Of note is the SGT250 CED player on top of the TV in the background. I uploaded that picture back in 2003, and since then the complete video has appeared on You Tube:

Does anyone recognize the model of two-piece VCR to the right of the CED player (try pausing at the 45 second mark)? I thought it might be an RCA VFP170, but the front panels don't look right:

| Speaking of "Making Michael Jackson's Thriller", a bunch of copies have surfaced on eBay in light of recent events - just make sure to put LaserDisc in your search terms, as all the postings I've seen are all described as such despite being CEDs! |

I can't imagine that it is so uncommon - there must be piles of them; it was a pretty hot title at the time. I think we're going to have to see how collector-mania plays out in the wake of his death.
I saw one on my local Craigslist for $100, listed as a laserdisc.
I'm willing to bet there is a DVD of this in our near future, along with every other last bit of film Michael ever appeared on. I've even heard murmurs of Captain EO revivals. |

Making Michael Jackson's Thriller was the all-time biggest selling home video title when it came out- I don't know what the breakdown between formats actually was, I assume the VHS tape sold the most. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |
