Hello All:

Some of you may be aware that Jon Clemens "the father of the CED" retired as CEO of Sharp Laboratories last year. He has since formed Sharp Technology Ventures, a partner that promotes intellectual property developed at the Labs but lying outside the market strategy of the parent Sharp Corporation.

One example of this that has received some press is "HiMpact Sports," a video processing algorithm that can take, for example, a three hour baseball game and reduce it to 45 minutes by eliminating those portions where people are just standing around. Here are some on-line articles:
