Strange.....I'm wondering if the cam that the front lever (OFF/PLAY/LOAD) is hooked up to is out of adjustment. I haven't looked inside one of these players in a while, but if I remember correctly, the front lever moves a metal bar on the right side of the player whenever you shift between off, play, or load. That metal bar then rotates a cam (basically a small, dark metal rod that stretches across the back side of the player). That cam does several things, such as engaging or disengaging the main power switch, the motor power switch, and the switches that tell the computer what position the front lever is in, but it also raises and lowers the turntable and the spindle, and if something gets off adjustment, it can cause the turntable and/or spindle to not drop down far enough in the load position. And of course, that would cause the jacket to get stuck on the spindle.
But I might have to take another look at one of my junk machines to see exactly what it is that you need to adjust to fix that. I know how to adjust the cam if the switches aren't working properly. Most of the cam related problems I've seen involve the player not turning off, not switching to the antenna input when turned off, or still flashing "L" in the play position, so if you've noticed any of those problems, then I would definitely suspect that the cam is your problem.
Let me know if that helps any. If you need more info., I'll pull my old junk players out and see what else I can figure out. |
