I recently purchased a copy of Blazing Saddles. Unfortunately, during playback, there are several points where the color shifts, as if the tint control on my monitor is being turned. If I search the disc in reverse, the color shifts occur in the same place each time. The effect reminds me of the Macrovision effect seen in some modern DVDs, where the color in the video will shift if it detects a VCR in the immediate signal chain (I'm using a mid-late '90s Magnavox VCR to convert the RF from my Sears 274.54740150 to composite video/audio for my monitor). Might the effect I'm getting be an early form of Macrovision, or is the disc just messed up? Also, there are some spots on the disc which have wavy lines. Might the two problems be related, or just coincidental?

Well, I think I solved my own problem. Turns out that my VCR has a major screw loose somewhere. I was playing a video game through it, and the colors were shifting as the game was played. Hooked the video game system directly to the monitor, and the color was stable. Oh well, another semi-modern piece of equipment gone bad, nothing new...

I hate that macrovision garbage!!!!

WHAT THEY DO IS REMOVE THE SYNC FROM THE VIDEO AND IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP!! (Nothing but your TV/VCR tuner can handle the resulting video (As soon as you press RECORD it loses the video because there is NO SYNC))

I ordered a movie on VHS from amazon and it was from 'HBO HOME VIDEO' and I was hesitant to get it because I had a bad experience with another "HBO HOME VIDEO" movie.. (Low audio) but I got it anyway and it has that crap!!

Anyone know how to put the sync back in the video so it looks good again??
