|
|
I just recently got a SGT250 working perfectly and am using it in the bedroom.
It is kinda far from a modern flat screen tv so I used coaxial cable since it was easy to rout and easy to get in long lengths. (On channel 4)
It looks pretty good on the TV (considering what it is)
I’m wondering if it a fair improvement to use the composite video signal and have the stereo sound?
Does a stereo sound signal get sent over the coaxial cane as well?
Thanks |

You will get better picture and sound using the AV jacks composite outs and ins because you are bypassing two steps, modulate then demodulate. Stereo TV didn't exist at that time meaning there was no circuitry for the TV to demodulate a stereo signal thru a coax, channel 3 or 4. If the TV was labeled as a monitor then it had stereo AV jacks that bypassed the tuner. |

Yes, I would use composite video if you can; in all cases, it should produce a slightly-better picture. And stereo sound is not sent over coax; in the circuitry, only the left-channel audio is sent over coax. So if you're watching your stereo titles through coax, then you're just watching them in mono!
And congrats on the G250; that and the 400s are the slickest players there are, imo. _________________ Austin N. |
