Hello all,

I just picked up an SFT 100 and I was wondering if you've ever seen this problem. I put in a disc and switch to play. The discs spins up, but the stylus arm does not move and the display still shows "L." I opened it up and the servo belt is fine, the motor is not turning. In the load position, the stylus arm moves freely, so I know it's not stuck.

Any ideas would be helpful,
-Ken

Ok, after more research, I found that it was a misaligned cam on one of the function switches. I got the machine to play, but it's tired. The sound is good and so is the picture most of the time, but there is occasional color smearing. Think I might try a new turntable belt and some oil.

I highly recommend this video, which has step by step instructions for aligning the cams:

go ahead and send the cartridge to CEDatum for cleaning and inspection while you are "tuning up" your player. That way you'll know the cartridges condition. While the player is open, load your discs into it to inspect them, that way you aren't touching the discs.
