For years I had most of my discs at home on the floor (not flat of course). I had started making shelves but never got finished. During my 2 week layoff because of you-know-what I decided to get to work. I had to traverse the terrors of Menards to get a few parts but I’m done. It’s really sturdy which I wanted and can hold so many more discs (or records which I’ll probably put on there for now). The top has a nice little display area which I put some of my other players on.

The metal framing is Xtreme Garage brand from Menards. It’s very easy to assemble requiring no screwing. The racking beams just slide down into the heighth you desire. The beams on the left are 8 foot and the right are 6 foot. The shelves are 5/8” MDF I cut in a local shop and then I put 3/8” MDF in the end frame for looks mostly. I put 4-8ft 2x6s across the floor underneath to help carry the weight across the joists.

In case anybody wants a detailed cost analysis...
$88 - $12/6ft racking beams
$132 - $14/8ft racking beams
$48 - $24/6ft end frames
$78 - MDF sheets
$12 - 4/2x6x8
$381 total

That’s probably more than I paid for my whole collection but I’m pretty happy.
