Hi Everyone,

I just got my first player and with some helpful knowledge from CEDatum I was able to get it operating. However, it is currently only playing in fast forward. Can anyone help me diagnose this problem? I am attaching a link to a video I made showing the display and the internal workings of the machine while it is playing. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thank you,

After reading the faults list a little more closely it seems that this may actually be the result of the stylus skipping through the disc. Can anyone confirm this is the likely problem I have based on the posted video?

Thank you,
Jason

I would start by sending your cartridge in to CEDatum and let them clean and inspect it (which is free) and then repair or replace if needed (cost varies). I've worked on various players and a bad cartridge can cause all sorts of problems, and they can be working fine and then you go to play another disc and it doesn't play fine. Can't be the cartridge it was just working fine. Send in the cartridge and something did go wrong with it. it's pretty much everything that happens happens from signals picked up by the cartridge,or most everything. It's nice to have a spare KNOWN good cartridge just for testing purposes. Without verification that the cartridge is good, there's really no use attempting a repair in my opinion. I feel the cartridge is pretty much the key to most everything else.

Thanks for the reply. I have been in touch with CEDatum and am working through some troubleshooting before sending the cartridge in.

In case anyone is interested, I sent my stylus in for inspection/repair to CEDatum. He found that my stylus was faulty and could not be repaired. I purchased a new stylus and that cleared my issue up... Mostly... it turned out the 2 discs I originally had to test were not very good either. This added to the problem. Once I had a good stylus and some good discs, everything started playing great.
