Costco is selling four-packs of seven-color LED night lights for $11.99 made by Megabrite:

These lights are similar to the white ones I used for the clear-top CED player to provide interior illumination for the player:

By removing two screws on the back of the light, it can be disassembled to reveal a small AC-powered circuit board. I replaced the center light on the guide rail bracket in my SJT300 so it can produce either plain white light with the outer two boards, or continuous-cycling 7-color light with the center board.
These night lights operate on the same principle of the seven-color LED pen I sent out the Christmas before last, except in this case all three semiconductor elements are housed in a single capsule:

Speaking of the clear top modification with the internal lighting, I'd thought I'd mention that the larger service label under the cover can be peeled off in one piece, if you have the time and patience. If you lift a corner with your fingernail and VERY slowly pull it up, it'll slowly come off a little at a time. Just be careful when you get to the rib under the middle section of the label. It may be best to get one side up, then come to the other. Also be careful aout letting the label re-contact the sruface, as it will bond again, not with as strong of a bond, but strong enough that you'll have to slowly pull it up again. The smaller label, however, won't come off as easy, so you'll probably have to use one of Tom's suggestions for that one. |
