CED VideoDisc and Player Discussion

New to the forum and relatively new to Video Disc Players, but always fascinated by them. I recently acquired a Zenith VP2000 and suspected I needed to change the belt. I have the parts but am unsure how to take the player apart to fix.

I took out the back screws but when I put pressure on it, it just seems like the plastic is going to snap. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just don’t want to break anything!

you have to take all the screws out from the base also, to get the lid off. they are 1/4'' hex i believe

Ah, okay. So would I need to flip it upside down or just taking the screws out of the bottom would let the lid come up?

i dont recommend flipping the unit upside down to remove the screws. sometimes i set my machine up on a stack of books so i can have room to access the screws. be careful when pulling the lid up and off. the braces that hold the lid down can snag on stuff while removing it.
