Hey, having an issue with a sjt400's front buttons, and wondering if this is a common problem? None of the buttons work except the power button which is of course separate. I've checked the connectors(both from buttons to cables, and cables to circuit board), and they all seem to be fine.

I know this model also has the ability to use a remote, is there some setting that would block the buttons and only allow the remote to be used?

Player works great otherwise with a clear pic, so it's a bit frustrating.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'm going to go with those are prone to failure. I have a couple 300's I worked on and one was like yours,no buttons worked, the other i think one or 2 buttons didn't work but as I worked on it another one or 2 buttons began not to work. The button actually pushes a bubble shaped membrane that has conductive coating on it and that conductive presses against circuit tracings and that material kind of flakes off then the buttons no longer work. CEDatum repaired one of mine I think it was $37 plus shipping there and back, which I think is very well worth it. I did the second myself but I had to make a fixture to mill the holes for the switches, had to buy the switches and wire etc, because I have maybe 20 players to do. You just send the front panel piece, not the entire player. With all the other players I'm not even going to think of trying to use the stock buttons, I think if they do happen to still work they're not going to work for long. I haven't tested that theory but my experience seeing how they work and how they're made brings me to that conclusion.
As far as the remote things go,I have no idea because I haven't got around to working on any of my other players.
