|
|
Hi I found a clean SGT 250 threw a friend problem is that it only has sound on a stereo disc and it's very quiet and mono discs have no sound at all
Switching the switch in the back to B makes the stereo discs a bit louder but that's it. Still no sound on mono discs
Thanks for you help |

Alex, the audio on a CED is basically frequency modulated, and in stereo's case it is matrixed so that stereo discs are compatible with mono.
What I would suspect in your case is a faulty circuit that normally demodulates audio after separating it from the video.
Now I still don't know enough about that to go any further except to ask if you see any problems in the video as well? _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |

Then it has got to be somewhere in the audio section. Hang on, I'll ring the front desk _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |

Most likely the L+R audio processing is bad. If your have a dual audio track disc ( Jane Fonda's Workout ) check if you have an output on both channels.
Check if the L+R audio demod IC is OK ( U3601 ) on the main circuit board. CEDatum carries IC's for RCA CED players. |

Alex, click the email button on Daxi Don's post to get ahold of him. PMs are disabled for security (spam control) and email is initially relayed thtough the CED Magic server (aka Tom) so that if it's screwy you can send to Tom's listed address and say it's screwy.
That's how we keep it real here and nobody can send a mass recipient spam.
Sorta like the old Craigslist.
Selectavision420 (Tony) also posts his address in the posts, as you have seen in one of your other threads (SGT transplant).
Cedatum can also be reached that way or looking through the main site (htto://cedmagic.com/) and finding the section on repair. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |

Sure I'll do that
Anyways the plot thickens 😂😥
So locally I found a bunch of CEDs in beautiful shape from a estate sale and a beautifully cared for player with the orgianl box and it's a SGT 250. What are the chances. So of corse I buy it lol take it home. Works great looks good very clean. Sounds good. So then I plug in a stereo disc sounds good also but no stereo light. Hmmmmm so then I do the Jain Fonda test again.
Sound in "norm". Sound in "A". No sound in "B"
😥😥 I'll never have proper CED stereo 😢 |

Hey Alex, Send him another email, he doesn't stay online like we do, he checks and then answers all his emails at that time. H has doine a lot of work on my players, he is the best. _________________ SGT-250

to make a long story short, I installed a new U3601 because some of the voltages were off on the one that was in there and it fixed the problem. Mono disc plays at the proper volume and stereo disc plays stereo with the stereo light lit. |
