I was wondering if the remote control for the SJT-300 player would work with the SJT-400 player and vice versa. I don;t have an SJT-300 player; but, I do have the remote control for it. I have an SJT-400 player and its remote though the player needs some repair work right now so I cannot test the remotes.

Has anyone tried the above?

I've often wondered that too. I don't think they are. I'm pretty sure you can use a SJT-300 remote with a SGT-250 and vice versa as I have seen people sell them like that. Not sure if the SJT-400, SKT-400 or Digital Command Center remotes would work with the SJT-300 or SGT-250. I have all 4 of those machines so I could test this but it would take some time to get them all hooked up and see what works with which player. But when I get some time I'll give it a shot. I only have a SJT remote though, no SKT remote. But I assume since the SJT remote works with the SKT player than any player that works with the SJT remote would work with the SKT remote. That's a lot of S's and T's. lol

As I understood when I looked it up, there are universals that are programmed to operate RCA CED players...I have a One4All (OFA) Cinema 7 and a couple others I think will work but I would wonder if those codes are still included in more modern ones or if they need to be added to programmable remotes.

A really good site to learn about this, and it has forums too, is remotecentral.com

The 400's remote codes are different, but all the other RCA players work with the same remotes.

So if I reading everyone right, the remote for the SJT-300 (Selectavision Videodisc Remote) will work on those RCA CED players that can receive remote commands and will not work with the SJT-400. The SJT-400 uses the Selectavision Random Access Control Center. Nice to know. I have 3 of the Random Access Control Centers and one Videodisc remote FWIW.

the g250, j300 and k300 all share a remote. the j/k 400's remote is in its own realm. i thought i read somewhere that the j/k 400 remote sends different wavelength transmissions and i believe there are 2 transmitters on the big remote. i was doing a lot of remote research on here a few years ago but the data is limited. i think basically the stick remote sends out an infra red pulse based on the given button pushed ( which is more analog based ), while the big brick puts out some sort of more digital based info ( mainly because of the shear amount of buttons, they had to do this to stop from repeating common infra red freq's...

but dont quote me on that...

My $300.00 Logitech remote has no codes for my SJT & SKT 400 CED player and I can not transfer any commands from the CED remote to the Logitech. So whatever type of signal is coming from the CED remotes is not compatible with todays programmable remotes.

You might ask on the Remote Central site?
