the shipping is more than the actual player, that might be better to pick up.

Depends on your location.

To my door it would be around $28, and it's always better to check ahead with the seller as it seems like eBay wants them to push certain shipping modes and they may not be the best ones.

The remote control included is what caught my attention other than the cosmetic condition. I could think of a few things that are keeping that player from working, one probably being a missing cartridge or bad power supply, and belts. Those are things many of us here can tackle.

There may be better or higher end CED players, but the 250 is the regular Joe model that does most of what a CED owner would want, and with stereo capability. Mono just doesn't ring the bell for a lot of folks anymore...not many VHS users long for a 1981 2-head mono VCR anymore.

Hi. I'm new to the forum and the wonderful world of CED. I bought the player at the link. At first I offered them $40, but then saw this post so I just went ahead and paid the 47. I don't remember now what shipping was. I wanted to get a stereo version along with the audio/video rca jacks for output. I also bought a sjt100 (or something??) that was on there for $33 so I'll have a couple to mess with. I do some tinkering with some older radio shack shortwave receivers and I've been monkeying around with a couple of tape echo machines. I haven't received the players yet. After I get them and look them over I'll probably be back with questions.
Somewhat of a side note. I do not remember these things. I remember betamax videos. I originally bought a betamax player back around 1983 (?). At the time the salesman at the store reccomended betamax over vhs. He thought betamax would eventually be the one sticking around and at some point the vhs systems would come to an end. I also remember the laserdisc. I didn't have one but a guy at work did. But the ced systems I just don't remember seeing them.

First of all, Welcome to the forum!

Let us know what you have found when you get the players (hopefully the very first thing is that they're IN ONE PIECE)!

We will be quite happy to help you and we can probably find parts you'll need or point you to them.

I don't know if anyone is into old VHS stuff. The IN ONE PIECE comment reminded me of a few years back I bought a Panasonic AG-1970 vcr that arrived here broken. Wasn't packaged very well and the box got dropped on a corner. Shortly after that I was somewhat happy it happened. The seller got paid back thru the shipping insurance, I got my money and shipping back immediately and I then bought an AG-1980, which is a step up from the 1970 and it was a little cheaper. That one arrived working. It's a much easier transaction though if it gets here undamaged the first time.

I'm into everything, except I'm not fond of trouble.

all i can say is, 99 percent of the questions you will ask are already here on this website. i see it all the time. people buy the stuff knowing nothing about it when a little research on here can go a really long way. i really dont advise buying a player without at least some research, too many times perfectly good players, or ones that are simple to fix end up in the trash because of situations similar to this.

i sincerely hope you will research and enjoy the machines. we are here to help with any technical questions, but, those of us that help, learned most of what we know from here, so remember that cedmagic is the key to anything ced player related. if you cant find it you arent looking hard enough Wink

sorry for the abrasive message Smile
