Here's the cover and disc for The Beach Girls Blu-ray, which uses the original movie poster for the cover illustration.

Opening up the case reveals more illustrations on the inside including front and rear caddy illustrations of the CED release. These are actually the same images from the Visual CED Title Database, as the same small label blemishes can be seen on close examination.

But it gets better, as this is a Blu-ray with a reversible insert, so turning it around puts the CED caddy images on the front cover.

This also reveals why the CED cover has always looked a bit odd (Jeana Tomasino's arm almost looks cut off). The CED cover is a cut-and-paste (with real scissors and glue back in those days) of three separate photographs from the VHS cover shown on the right.

There could be more of these CED Blu-rays out there. Scorpion Entertainment also released My Tutor, but I haven't seen the inside of the case.

Ha! So awesome! What a good find! It even shows the tabs and stuff on top! So they used your scans?

Yes, those are the images straight out of the Visual CED Title Database. The company probably got them via a web search.

On the "Tron" Blu-Ray in the extras, you can see a Tron CED. Possibly the first CED shown on a Blu-Ray.

I saw TRON in one of our old local theaters when it came out and was amazed it was a DISNEY film. It was a pretty decent film, perhaps behind and ahead of it's time simultaneously, probably dismissed as a geek film by many in the same sort of way that Xanadu was dismissed but when you look back perhaps both of those films were groundbreaking and unique in ways that aren't thought about now. The first half of the 1980s were somewhat amazing...the second half seems to have skidded a bit.

Movies seemed to be somewhat different after 1985.

That's really cool. I would have never imagined seeing a CED caddy on a Blu-Ray package. Now you just have to get them to pay you royalties for using your photos. Smile

Does the bottom of the CED Magic website not say "© copyright 1995 - 2015, Tom Howe"? How can they take his image off his website and publish it on a bluray insert without asking permission first? Tom, you better call the publisher and see if you can get some kind of royalty for this or threaten to sue them. Then you can use the money to open a new CED pressing facility. Wink
