not a major issue, but the player you have listed says its a sj100 on the label, but the lid must have been switched because that is a sjt 090

I'm in the Round Lake, IL area. I'd really like to pass on the entire collection in one go instead of trying to piece meal it out.

I'll have my husband look in to the player. We have a second one that is in iffier condition, perhaps at some point while assessing them he swapped the lids on them

I am moving soon, and I have 3 CED players & an early RCA Selectavision VHS VCR for parts or repair that I do not want any more, and I can not take with me to my new place. I will mail them out to any one who just wants to pay the shipping & handling price.

Here are the details:

The VCR is an RCA Selectavision model VCT400, serial number 8293FM347, manufactured July 18, 1978. It still has the original box. I believe it was manufactured by Panasonic, and I think it was the second VHS VCR sold by RCA. It only has the SP & LP tape speeds. Its problem are that when a tape is loaded, and I press play, it will not start playing, and it will "eat the tape." It looks like someone has tried repairing it in the past, and it still has some old decals from a TV & video dealer. I bought this VCR from a garage sale back in 2010.

The first CED player I have an RCA model SFT100W, serial number 136 31 6107. My father bought this player cheap from E Bay four months ago. The problems it has are that the player will not turn off when the function lever is in any position, and it will not play a disc in the play position. It does not go all the way down. When it is in the off position with a disc loaded, the turntable will spin, but there is no picture at all, and it will not do anything else when the other buttons are pushed. Also, the side 1 and side 2 lights will not come on.

The next CED player is an RCA model SKT090, serial number 412536182, manufactured March 1984. It will play discs, but it makes a very loud "scratching" noise while the disc is spinning. I bought this player from a yard sale back in 2010.

Finally, my third CED player is a Sears model 934.54780150, serial number Y1H 003457, manufactured August 1981. This player will load a disc, and the red lights in the front will come on, but it only makes a loud "buzzing" noise, and the disc will not play at all. I saw this player for sale in a magazine, and went to a woman's house to buy it back in 2012.

These machines would make good parts donors, or someone could repair them & keep them, or repair them & sell them. If you are interested, my E mail address is brownkyler@aol.com. All you have to do is pay the shipping & handling.

hi there, i sent you an email about the sears player Smile

Hi all, first post here. I have a fairly sizable collection of CED discs that I am letting go of. Contact me with the titles you are interested in, and I can pull the disc and will respond with asking price and shipping quote based on your zip code. Will do my best to consider a fair price based on condition, rarity, quantity of disc you'd like to purchase. I can ship discs individually or would be happy to ship several of your choice. I ship via USPS Media Mail and am located in Omaha, NE.

Happy to try and answer specific questions about a disc if you have an inquiry. These are all lightly used and in good condition. No factory sealed discs.

E-mail is the best way to contact me; click the link at the bottom of this post, or if for some reason that doesn't work, my e-mail address is adam311 [at] cox [dot] net.

PostPosted: Thu Apr 23, 2015 1:39 pm    Post subject: Lot of CED discs looking for a new home Reply with quote

We stumbled across these discs on Craigslist a few years ago, and enjoyed watching many of them as a family.

We moved a few times, and unfortunately our storage unit flooded, taking out our player and one of our boxes of discs.

Since we moved to our new home, we haven't taken the time to invest in a new player, and just made the decision to part with the remains of our collection.

They're in fair condition (I think, I'm not a collector so I don't know for sure). We do collect vinyl, so we understand the passion that goes into something like that, and we just want to make sure our remaining CED discs go to people who actually want them.

Just send me a PM with an offer for any discs and your zip code so we can figure out shipping.

Also, please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong here - I've read this forum a bit and hope I'm doing this right!

I have photos of all of the discs on an album - sorry about some of the quality, if you're serious about a title, I can rephotograph both sides of the disc for you.

Anyway, here's the list!

Escape from New York
Star Wars (Episode IV)
Clash of the Titans
2001: A Space Odyssey (discs 1 & 2)
The Lord of the Rings (disc 1 of 2 only)
Watership Down
War of the Worlds
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (discs 1 & 2)
Forbidden Planet
M*A*S*H (the movie)
Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Disney's animated Alice in Wonderland
Disney Cartoon Parade Vol 1
Disney Cartoon Parade Vol 2
Disney Cartoon Parade Vol 3
Disney Cartoon Parade Vol 4
Disney Cartoon Parade Vol 5
Stagecoach
Laura
Benji
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
MGM Cartoon Magic Vol 1
Tom & Jerry Cartoon Festival Vol III (looks like the good Chuck Jones years)
Fiddler On the Roof (disc 1 of 2 only)
Hamlet (disc 2 of 2 only)
Easter Parade
Casablanca
Heaven Can Wait
The African Queen
Born Free
Airplane!
El Dorado (discs 1 & 2)
On Golden Pond
Diamonds Are Forever
Oklahoma! (disc 1 & 2)
Mary Poppins (disc 1 & 2)
My Fair Lady (disc 1 & 2)
Terry Toons Vol 1 (featuring Might Mouse!)
The Best of Terry Toons (also with Mighty Mouse!)
The Great Escape (disc 2 of 2 only)
The Sea Wolves (disc 1 of 2 only)
Old Yeller (complete with childhood trauma!)
Candleshoe
Annie (disc 1 & 2)

That's it! Please PM me with inquiries, or send email directly to eyeofdraco at gmail.

Tony, thanks for the sneak peek. I am playing the waiting game for the arrival, and also the pictures & videos! I have never seen that remote control before; the only CED player remote controls I have seen pictures of are for the RCA 250, 300, and 400 players.

I also wanted to share my story of the player. I bought that Sears on Sunday, March 11, 2012. I saw an advertisement for a huge collection of discs, with the player, in a free magazine called the San Diego Reader. I called the telephone number in the ad, and I went to the woman's house, and she had over 150 discs, and she wanted me to take all of them, along with the player. I could barely fit them all in my car. After I got home & unloaded all the discs, I tried out the player. It loaded the disc & the red lights came on, but it just made the loud noise. I put the player in my closet, where it has been ever since then, thinking I may have it repaired at some time in the future, but I recently decided to just pass it along, and keep only one working player to watch my CEDs on. I still have all of the discs though, and I still have not watched all of them, three years later.

I noticed something funny earlier today. I mailed the player on the date of 4/20, just like SelectaVision420!

player came today... i put 2 belts in it and a new stylus, and it doesnt work, i tried a few different things and it wont read the disc needless to say im pretty frustrated with this shipping debacle...

the player all but fell out of the box when i picked it up off my porch

this is exactly how it was left in my porch

you can see it was tossed around because it was very poorly packed

some how the shipping lock screw that holds the stylus carrier was partially in place so theres that...

load belt was bad

some of the goopers

Hi Folks. This is just the first of 15 Boxes I inherited. I've been reading the forum and would like to make sure these Discs get to a good home for a fair price.

If you live in San Francisco, even better! These things are heavy and will cost a lot to ship in an volume. Sad

Patrick

These VideoDiscs have always been stored upright inside two old-style record (milk) crates.

These VideoDiscs vary in condition from fair (some were rentals) to very good to new with ten titles new in their original cellophane wrappers. Fourteen of the titles are classified as "Rare" by the CED Magic website.

The VideoDisc player comes with a spare (used) needle in original box.

The VideoDisc player will play but definitely needs a new "Function Motor" drive belt.

Pick up location is near Queen St. & Hwy #410 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

(Sorry again, no shipping available as, being in Canada, I don't want to deal with packing and/or payment concerns.)

Total price for all the titles and the player is $100. Cash only. No trades.

Images available at my Kijiji.ca ad:

Kijiji.ca Ad ID 1095656398

I can provide more images upon request.

By the way, nice place you have here!

Thanks for reading all the way through! Smile

EDIT 8/20/15: The CED collection and player has been sold and has picked up by the buyer! Very Happy Thank you!

Please Note: The photo in this thread will disappear as I have now deleted the Kijiji ad.

Exid0r, you have a number of titles our members have been searching for individually, but can you answer a question that will be sure to be occurring to them?

Are your titles stored stacked flat on top of each other in your pictures or vertically, and is that how you normally store them?

Important question...stacking them over time can damage them from the compression of their weight.

I can see that you are a big fan of the music related/concert titles like I am.

One of us may still be looking the Fleetwood Mac Documentary and Concert CED you listed too.

How close to the border are you? It would seem that somebody would end up buying the lot and possibly splitting it up for mailing and we have members who might be interested in that, I think.

We also have a thread listing titles wanted you might look at.

Thanks for the compliment, by the way! Our site owner, Tom, is dedicated and has done a really excellent job in maintaining what may be one of the few or last sites left about CED and IMO it certain has always been the best.

IMPORTANT: We do not use the PM system on this site for security reasons, members may list their email address or other contact information (usually a website) or use the email button if enabled (which goes through Tom's account here in case you are unhappy/spammed and need to report the message to him)...after that, much like Craigslist was you can email each other personally.

Hello kitchensynch and thank you for your reply.

The titles have always been stored upright/vertically in old-style heavy-duty record (milk) crates. (I took the pictures from above/overhead.)

I understand the issue with stacking them and it's not something I ever did. I kept them stored upright simply because it was easier to access individual discs that way.

I should note that a member of this forum was quick to reply to my Kijiji ad has already agreed to purchase the whole lot. Smile

COOL. Maybe they'd be willing to sell a title or two eventually?

I will leave that up to the new owner. Smile

Here is a better photo showing how the discs have been stored, for the past twenty years anyway. I added the image to my Kijiji ad.
(I realize now that the other photos could be seen as showing the discs stacked.)

Next is to go through my [music] vinyl collection and find a collector for that. Wink

EDIT: The CED collection and player has been sold and has picked up by the buyer! Very Happy Thank you!

Now wait--

You're not planning to return to Ork, are you? Laughing

I realize that egg delivery would be rather expensive.

Hi,

I have the following to trade;

Start to Finish : The Story of The 1981 Formula One World Championship - Rare

Teddy Pendergrass : Live In London (Stereo) - Rare

Still Of The Night (Ex-Rental Copy)

The Natural (Stereo)

Falling In Love

Apple Dumpling Gang (Case looks rough on this one)

////////////

I'm looking for anything from the horror/slasher genre, cult or 80's classics. i'd be willing to negotiate multiple titles (or all) for more obscure rarities.

I have an extra copy of Mad Max III Beyond Thunderdome CED I'm going to part with. Putting up here before it goes to Ebay. Asking price is $50 + shipping (what I paid). If multiple offers are received it will go to the highest bid. Contact me at plutonique9 at h0tm@il (dot) com (hopefully that fools the spam bots).

Thanks

@Selectavision420

Did you get that Sears player going yet? If your interested I have the same player, well basically. It's the Realistic CED - 1 model 16-301. It's your if you want it, just paypal shipping or pick it up. It may be useful for parts.

You may be able to dig back in the forum and find where I had to rebuild this damn thing because it was shipped to me about like yours was. I had the stylus rebuilt by CEDAtum just to find out my lifter spring was weak and I grinded the rebuilt stylus on the side of the disk. I have seen this play part of a disk though, and it looked good.
