Well, probably the player wasn't really "frozen", it was likely a matter of the small toggle activation switch not being pressed by the cam due to slight cam movement since the belt was no good.
A good stylus ought to solve the problem, and the old one may have been dirty, worn, or even the lead wire come loose due to age. Always good to have a spare stylus anyway.
Buttons typically won't work properly until the stylus reads the disc anyway. Even if buttons don't work properly, the remote ought to work the player once the new stylus is put in.
Shipper goofed by not leaving a not taped to the case telling you to remove the shipping screws, but sounds like there was no damage. |

Remember though, sometimes this will lock a player up and not allow it to play anything (will do everything but actually play the disc). Sometimes I've even had to take the front panel off and use just the remote, otherwise it wouldn't do anything (4 permanently pressed in broke buttons). I have had this happen and have had to do the front panel replacement kit by cedatum. You can almost always feel if a button is bad too. Push the button and if it pops back its likely good. At the same time all buttons could be good and the connector is bad which will mess shit up too! _________________ I dont own

Absolutely, just a friendly reminder that the remote might not work at all even if it loads the disc and plays it properly, if any button is jammed. <--- That being the reason for removing the face plate and using remote only. _________________ I dont own

Well guys, replaced the stylus and nothing. Still doing the same thing as before. Thought this wasn't going to take a lot to get going.
Getting frustrated.

Is the stylus a known and tested working stylus? _________________ I dont own

Bought on eBay. New old stock, says it was inspected before shipping.
Right now I'd trade all three of my players for 1 really nice working unit!! |

Ah that might be the problem. Did they inspect it with a microscope? Did they test it in a player? A lot can be wrong even if they think it looks "new" or "good". That is something that happens on ebay a lot with styli. Send both to cedatum (contact them at www.cedatum.com) and have them clean(free) or fix them(cheap). Then try them in the player. _________________ I dont own

NOS stylus can still be a problem. It may not even be NOS, just a stylus in a box that was used. Unless the box was sealed?
Even the NOS stylus can have trouble with lead wire and possible corrosion.
Did it do the same thing? Meaning make click sound but nothing displayed?
You must get a stylus that is known to be working before you do anything else. If CEDatum inspects the NOS stylus and finds it defective, then you need to send the report to the ebay seller and get a partial refund or something, I'd say.
What are the other two players you have? |

The SJT 090 powers on but wont properly load disc, so I'm putting a new loading belt in it. Going to test as soon as I'm done. |

Well, if you notice, the stylus was the one thing everyone was pointing to initially. ALways good to go that route first if symptoms lead that way. |

It will be awesome when it gets here. whenever that is (believe I saved another number twice so I don't have that, asked the person who helped me with the tag).

Hi Guys,
I have been looking into getting a new player recently as well. Initially it looked like a 400 would be the way to go, but those look very expensive! I guess what I'm looking for is something with stereo sound, so maybe the SGT250? Just thought I would bounce this off you guys. _________________ Matthew

The 250 is a good choice in working order, it's probably the most popular model among CED enthusiasts. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |
