Well, that's something you ought to get for yourself for two reasons:
1. It will work on your SGT 250
2. Once I finish up your SJT 090, that's the remote you'll need to operate all the functions on it.
Does anyone know who is selling that? The ID looks familiar, a person in Kentucky. |

Most niversal remotes won't operate CED players, but there are a few exceptions, Tom did up a webpage that describes them right here:
http://www.cedmagic.com/tech-info/univ-remote/univ-remote.html
I always prefer an original remote if possible, but you might have one of these remotes around. |

Thank you for this link and information, I possibly have a six-in-one RS and I have a couple really nice OFA remotes, including a Cinema 7 IIRC. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |

This link on that page doesn't seen to work as it brings up a blank Filebug page with no information or options other than language selection

The link works for me, it might be a problem specific to your PC. Try a copy and paste instead or...
Go to the main cedmagic page and look under:

IE8 and Compatibility Mode fixes it naught. I think other links are probably helpful enough though. My RS Six-In-One might be a candidate too. I'm doing the Christmas packages for an audio forums site I'm part of, a small bunch but when budget CD-Rs have to be burned at 1-4X times 60 due to another burner failing (done but it took a while for a 56 min program) and I've about slagged my last good dual cassette dubbing mixtapes, borrowed one and have to bank the other two singles, working to get the two reel to reels prepped and going and even trying an EIGHT TRACK this year, I'm not going to take a lot of time to get the quadcore back up again and I do what I can as it gets there.
I should be with Yogi and the rest of the bears hibernating. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |

The link from that page to the JP1 site works, it's that individual link on HIS site that doesn't. I used the CED Magic page to get there to start. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |

Except that it's not Tom's site and he's not responsible for it or whether you can access it and I can't. If you say you can I must have the issue. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |

| No, I mean that you should report the link on the CEDmagic page as not taking you anywhere appropriate, so Tom can either remove it or update it, or such. Or don't, as he probably reads the forum anyway. |

Tom cannot be responisble for third-party links most of the time anyway and I linked to the problematic page from that outside website. My IE8 is probably 1/2 the deal and this thing is going to serve my workbench soon, never to see an ethernet connection again.
I gotta get that disc out soon. I've got two weeks until I can probably send it anyhow. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |

I'm still not coming through clear. When I said that the link worked, I was talking about my link to the CEDmagic page. It wasn't stated specifically which link was a problem, so I thought it was mine therefore I tried it, then discovered, after some searching, it was not.
The incorrect or nonexistent link can be removed on the CEDmagic page or, if the linked 3rd party page has moved, the CEDmagic link can be updated should the page be rediscovered. This is what I am describing. |

I fixed my IE8 but clicking on the link now leads to a Yahoo! Downloads page for a Firefox download. Not doing that.
Whatever it was that was there I'm probably not capable of using right now and I might have enough of the correct remotes and codes to do it anyhow. I manage to collect a lot of remote controls over time, especially older universals. Like I said though, this one URL isn't listed on CED Magic IIRC-it's an option of the site that is and therefore it's the outside sites' responsibility. The other links on that site seem to work fine. Losing the horse for a bad shoe isn't probably a good thing. After nearly eighteen years of internet use I've found a lot of good information on perpetually abandoned and non-updated sites that seem to be kept there for legacy or just cached by Google. Often there isn't a lot to be done. When Geocities was closed for an example, we may have lost a lot of what is now considered pretty bad coding and awkwardness, but they WERE a piece of our history and somewhat good examples of what to do and not to do with basic skills. I find a lot of files and sites like these that help me with old computers, fixing radios and so much more and they are vital, if obscure.
PS I'm not even sure many of those Geocities users saw fit to even save their work and just left it to die unless somebody else saw fit to it. A few admit to being embarrassed by them.
We are fortunate to have such a range of information available to us about entertainment media systems at all, given the sometimes porous nature of internet information despite that one internet archive site.
Since I slept the afternoon into midnight again I guess I'm up again and back to work here. I'll try freeing the disc again since I got the sleeve a few days ago and thanks for sending it. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |
