I have about 900 titles in my library at this point. I have never planned on having all of them. One reason is some of them are soft DELETED, and I don't care for any kind of DELETED. I know that of the discs I have, there are some I won't ever watch. Like I don't plan to exercise with Jane Fonda.....
I have seen some of the guys show pictures of discs they have purchased, that didn't look like they would play, some of them a bit tattered.
I'm just curious, who plans to collect the entire the catalog, and, do they have to be in a certain condition? I know I have seen Jesse say he was looking to upgrade a certain title, so I guess if you do get them all, you would always be looking to get a better copy of certain titles. So what are your plans??

Great question Scott. My main goal in collecting them all is to first get every disc, condition is not really an issue right now. Once I get the disc, then, depending on if it is a title I care about, I might look to upgrade the quality. I have seen some discs where the quality is just not there and the price is too high, which I will pass on even though I don't have it yet. But if it's a disc I don't have yet and it has a torn label or plays crappy but is only like $.25 cents. I will buy it just to be able to mark it off on my list, but then once I have every discs I will start to look for better qualities.

I know this is an older thread, but I had a question. In the first post, beetlescott mentions "Soft Deleted" when referring to some discs. I've never heard that term before. What does it mean?

Thanks,
Jon

I think the term "delected" in capitals pops in when certain words are used and happens automatically, eg, covering vulgar words or those that have certain connotations.

I think he was referring to a genre of film that starts with SOFT and the last word sounds like corn, but the board programming stamped DELETED over it.

I will "collect" titles I don't have, give away or trash titles I don't want. I ran across a vaporware title TULIPS and sent it to TOM quite some time ago. There are approx 1200 titles upstairs, almost all playable and only a couple of duplicates: Woodstock and the hard to find "o" title. I've been into this since the mid-nineties. They play very well on favorite vintage televisions. CRAIG

Josh, Tony that makes perfect sense. Also do you have the impossible to find AVON discs? If not, are they not considered to be part of the catalog?

Yeah, surprising isn't it?

I bought a copy of Zombie that had a poor case and warped disc, and kept it, just to have it fill in the CED slot where it was missing. I restored the case, and the disc will play after the first 5 minutes skip past.

But it doesn't matter much because I watch the laserdisc widescreen special edition of Zombie if I ever want to see it.

I watched the first side of the CED before I sold it. I'm a major Walking Dead fan, and I thought it would be interesting to watch an older Zombie movie. It was actually not bad. I'm looking for a better copy of it to finish it.
