|
|
Just the other day, I got a CED of MASH, the movie, in the mail. I wish I could say that it was in good shape, but, I cannot. The seller had shipped the disc wrapped in brown paper only! As a result, the two corners on the end that is inserted into player were broken. I found the 2 plastic pieces in the paper. I don't believe that they can be glued back and would stay in place. The CED only cost 99 cents plus shipping. I am not notifying the seller of the CED condition as all he will do (if that) is forward a refund of 99 cents. Needless to say, I left no feedback. As another check, I slid the disc out of the caddy to check on its condition. It looks like something had gotten into the caddy in the past as there is squiggly scratch in one section. It probably would not have played anyway. I guess I will keep the CED for a wall ornament.
This was a pity as the cover art on the caddy is in very good shape with almost no wear.
When will the sellers of CED's wake up and realize that the CED's need the kid glove treatment when they are shipped? _________________ Sears 934-54780150 & 934.54810350,

I have fixed broken corners in the past, but it is not an easy thing to do. Typically, I send a note telling the seller about how easily the corners are damaged, and ask them to take care in protecting the corners.
Better to not play a disc with visible scratch unless you want to take a chance on wrecking the stylus.
Most times when that happens to me, I also don't leave feedback. I might leave neutral feedback sometimes, but usually it takes a really big thing for me to leave a negative. You probably could get back your 99 cents though.
A good cover would make a nice wall display. Recently my son got a whole bunch of my old classic LPs from my ex-wife that she initially kept. He surprised me with them, which was nice, and he took my original, almost mint, Iron Butterfly debut album, Heavy, and placed it into a frame with the cover on one side and the record on the other. Of course I cannot play it that way, but he knew I had replaced it with another one that I play.
I let him keep the Cream, Hendrix and Led Zeppelin albums since he's a guitarist and follows that style of music. But I took all the Iron Butterfly and Vanilla Fudge ones since they are so obscure anymore. Great psychedelcic heavy-metal stuff. |

The other thing is that the corners had been broken before and shipment only broke them more. What I am saying is that the 2 broken pieces do not fill in the corners completely leaving me to believe that the corners had already been broken before it was shipped and that the shipping only broke them further.
This CED will make a good boat anchor ( a little light in weight), or a good server for spaghetti (if it weren't for that darn label). _________________ Sears 934-54780150 & 934.54810350,

Hey, Sorry to hear it. it is heartbreaking to be looking forward to a CED only to get a load of pieces. I am with you, I don't understand why people think they can mail a disc in a piece of paper. _________________ 1000 titles

Yeah, how dumb are people getting in this country?
I bought a very rare laserdisc about 5 yrs ago, cost $50, and came in plain brown paper, and came cracked of course. There were two idiots involved in this fiasco:
1. The dumb@$$ seller who shipped it in brown paper.
2. The $#!+head postman who folded it to fit it in a mailbox.
Even the cover was ruined, and it took 4 years to find another one. The worst one was when I got the 10th Anniversary Edition of Re-Animator lasredisc in pieces.
It used to be a funny joke when we'd ask Who's buried in Grant's tomb? or When did they fight the War of 1812? But now I think there's plenty of people who'd reply "I don't know."
It's really great when Jay Leno goes up to a schoolteacheer and can't get an answer to simple history or political questions. |

| Here is one for the record. A few years ago my wife and I had Verizon cell phone services and had never had any problems. We used them mainly to talk to one another cell phone to cell phone and long distance to our children for which there is no extra charge. Then after years of trouble free service I got a bill and they were charging me for long distance calls and charging me minutes for talking to my wife on her phone. I took the bill to a Verizon store and they removed all the charges from my bill. The next month it happened again so I went back to the Verizon store. They assured me they didn’t charge for long distance calls and directed me to a lady who was going to correct our bill on her computer. She typed in my cell phone number and then told she discovered the problem. She said and I quote “ the reason you are being charged for long-distance calls is because you are making long distance calls”. It’s at that point that I realized this is why I don’t carry a firearm. |

| Right, because you don't get buried in a tomb, but even if somebody said GRANT assuming he was buried, rather than I DON'T KNOW, that shows at least some thinking ability. |

Tell them where to get the cardboard mailers of at least how to make one but I've never dealt with anybody who didn't already do that.

PS Request that USPS hold large packages if you are not home, it's a godsend, especially in my little 'hood. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |
