A couple weeks ago I discovered how easy it is to upload video onto Youtube.com and have put up several old commercials and other stuff. Here's the link to one for a mom-n-pop TV store in Rochester, NY that carried the Zenith player and rented movies.

Check out all my stuff, I'm adding new clips all the time too! _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

THAT.....Was pretty cool. Love the selection of "current" movies available!
I remember signing up for a "lifetime" membership with a long established electronics/appliance store in Detroit back in 1983. $200.00 got me the privilege to rent Beta movies at the cost of $3.00 @ day! I've now outlived my lifetime membership AND the store by, oh, 20 years! |

I know the feeling. I still have a lifetime membership with two of our past video retailer/rental stores. I kept them for old-time sakes. One was the only place in town that carried the RCA CED players and movies. He would let us take home rental copies to try and if we liked them we could buy a new copy. He auctioned off all of his stuff in the late 80s. I got my player, an SJT-200, for only $50 brand new. I was only 12 years old at that time and considered myself lucky. Up until the owner died, he continued servicing the CED players in a "hush" manner. And it wasn't until 12 years later that my player got struck by lightning having never given me a single problem before.
Just goes to show you how good a technology really is...but by the time it comes around...it's usually too late. |

Well, hope you enjoyed that because it's gone now- my account got shut down because the CBS complained about copyright infringement on 2 clips I uploaded- one was a promo for the Star Wars Holiday Special which aired the night before during "Hawaii Five-O" and the other was a 5 second CBS movie bumper from 1977. I guess the people who now run what's left of CBS don't want people to remember when they didn't suck. I'm moving on to video.google.com now, Viacom can kiss my stylus! _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

The new home for my non-copyright-infringing videos is:
http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=label:from%208traxrule
All the videodisc commercials are there, along with an early Sony Betamax ad, a few for Zenith System 3 TVs, and a movie intro from The Z Channel, a long-gone pay movie channel. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |
