I just found this Sears model 934.54780150 CED player for sale on Craigslist Inland Empire, if any one is interested. It comes with a manual & 5 discs, but personally, I think the asking price is too high.

I've been watching that player listing for a while. and it never drops in price, and it is too high.

For about a year a fellow was listing a new in box SJT 090, at a high price, and never got a buyer, and recently he had to move and sold that player and a broken 400 and 300 discs for $125, and it was an ebay auction, so there were bidders on it.

Sad to say for sellers, the lower number of CED collectors has made prices drop, but good for buyers. Laserdisc has gone the same way.

there arent many of us being fair with disc sales these days... it only seems like the community members seem to be cutting each other deals, and the ebayer's are shooting for the moon!

I wonder if the seller thinks the price is justified for something so good and hard to get a hold of?? (Probably figures those who really want it,will pay him that price)

His player probably is in excellent condition i would say!

I watch a lot of things in my ebay search emails but the laserdisc players that make it in the emails are either the older ones (so to speak) or models like the S201, -D models or the near the end models with DVD and DVL-700s are NOT going for $54.99.

A lot of discs going with the players lately.

In the last 10 years, I've seen the average prices for both LD and CED players drop more than 50% of what they were. The prices for discs have dropped even more, escept the very rare discs.

I remember the SJT & SKT400 players going for over $400 on Ebay back 10 years ago with no remote. They sold for more that I paid for my brand new SJT400 back in 1983 for which I paid $399.

Since the 909 was built as a legacy model until 2010 or '11 the shine hasn't quite worn off those and they play DVDs...

Having a number of the CD-V series up isn't helping given their relative age...people probably look them up and in this case don't equate OLDER with BETTER/MORE DESIRABLE like they do with receivers, cassette decks and other audio gear.

LD is cool but CD players aren't very sexy, not even to a diehard user like me.

In the LD collectors world, the DVL series is popular but not the most sought after. The DVL-919 was the last produced player, although the DVL 909 outsold the 919. There are a few players that command large prices still, mostly certain Japanese marketed players that have red lasers.

In restoration of LD players, I have found that a well-maintained player held by a person who cared about it, regardless of being old, is typically a player that has a lot of use still left in it. As with all electronics, circuit components can become degraded with age, and the laser can fail, but mechanically, as long as they are maintained, LD players will last a long, long time. Same as a CED player handled with care.

Rcently I got a DVL player that had really had a tough life, and was full of little problems due to lack of care. The previous owner was just at a loss on what to do. After tackling each problem step-by-step, the player came back to proper operation and works well now.
