I collect Pink Floyd stuff, and Ive recently bought The Wall and Live
at Pompeii on NTSC CED. Thing is though, I live in europe, and I dont
yet have a CED player, and though I really just bought these titles
for collecting purposes, I would like to buy a player to check them
out.
So my question is, will NTSC discs play on PAL players? or do I need
to buy an NTSC player and a power converter to convert from 220V to
115V? Ive played NTSC vhs tapes on PAL vcr's and also with dvd's, so I
know that NTSC stuff can be played on PAL systems, just not other way
around (so I assume also that an NTSC player will play ok on my PAL
tv), but the PAL and NTSC CED players operate at different RPM, and Im
sure a range of other specifics are different too, so, is it at all
possible to play NTSC disc on a PAL player, or would that produce
weird results?

Cheers,
Tor

It wouldint hurt to try, but if it does not work then you would need to get a NTSC CED player and a power converter and (if your TV doesnt output NTSC correctly) a NTSC-PAL converter.

Dont bother to play ntsc discs on a pal player. they spin at different speed. so color wont be right among other problems.

Hello Tor - I'm afraid I dont have any advice, but I live in the UK and will be selling 2 hitachi CED players and the Live At Pompeii disc (amongst others) in about 1-2 weeks on ebay, postage available to Europe - if you're interested please check my items for sale (user id - rossi1138) in a little while.
Cheers, majoreasy.

There is only one player that can play both NTSC and PAl if you read up on the products on CED Magic it will tell you.

If in UK - and buy an NTSC player than you can get a transformer from Dixons / Maplins for about £20.

Unlike the multiregion DVD or NTSC Playback video - The CED play will output an NTSC signal so your TV will need to be compatible . The NTSC Video/DVD output a converted 60HZ Pal signal so it is never an issue

Hope this helps
