Back in the day I owned two Toshiba stereo adapters and three Hitachi stereo adapters. Sold them all on Ebay.

You probably have a bad IC sound chip. Check with CEDatum they helped me once with this same issue.

This player has no jack for a remote. I owned one these years ago.

CEDatum rebuilt a Hitachi stylus for me and it works great. Mine was the first rebuild of an Hitachi stylus so he did for free to see if it would work and it did. I highly recommend them.
