Dad has used the grooved pulleys on several of those model players with the round belt to great success. It's really the only way to go now that the other belt isn't available. |

Yeah, it's a special multi-voltage model that can run on any voltage worldwide. Supposed to be able to play PAL DVDs too, but I haven't tried that.

Sometimes that latch mechanism just gets stuck from old lubricant drying out and grime collecting, and just needs cleaning and new lubricant, if the springs still seem okay and are not too weak. |

That would have been most likely an RCA SJT or SKT model. They tend to be more fogiving about the belt substitutes than the other models. Did you just take off two screws to get the top cover off? |
